Office Manager

Position summary: Reporting to the Executive Director and supporting a management staff of five, the Office Manager provides high-level administrative support by conducting research, managing confidential HR administration and record keeping tasks, preparing reports, handling information requests, and performing clerical functions such as inventory and purchasing, preparing correspondence, receiving visitors, arranging conference calls, and scheduling meetings and travel. May also train and supervise lower-level clerical staff.

Membership & Events Sales

Position summary: Reporting to the Marketing Manager, the Membership & Events Sales person is responsible for membership sales, fundraising and marketing events and promotions, sales of facility rentals and community presentations for the Terry Lee Wells Nevada Discovery Museum (The Discovery). The Membership & Events sales person is responsible for maintaining a high level of member satisfaction.

Lead MEG (Museum Experience Guide) – Part Time

Position summary: Reporting to the Floor Manager, the Lead Museum Experience Guide (L-MEG) is a vital member of the Museum Operations Team, delivering excellent customer service to visitors of all ages, throughout the entire museum. While stationed in the gallery space, the MEG will partner directly with our Education Department, and specifically engage children in the use and understanding of important elements in each gallery, to inspire curiosity and creativity. The L-MEG also serve in a lead capacity as the safety and security eyes/ears of the Museum, responding to and resolving issues of concern to patrons or staff. While providing customer service to visitors at the reception desk or retail store, MEGs serve as first point of contact to the public and will be able to share important information about programs, exhibits and special events. Essential duties of this position will include fast and efficient cash handling and credit card processing, using a state-of-the art Point of Sale software system to reconcile all transactions. The L-MEG oversees floor operations, including breaks, addressing schedule deficiencies, and generally ensuring floor procedures are carried out in an efficient seamless manner.

Facilities Assistant

Position summary: Reporting to the Operations and Visitor Services Director, the Facilities Assistant (FA) provides hands-on support to maintain the Museum to the highest levels/standards of appearance. The FA will deliver light janitorial services, provide events set-up and clean-up, will maintain building repair logs, assemble and catalogue Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDSs) and other required safety documentation, as well as providing assistance of a general nature to the building engineer.

Exhibit Maintenance/Fabricator

Position summary: Reporting to the Exhibits Supervisor, the Exhibit Maintenance / Fabricator is responsible for the prompt resolution of issues related to the upkeep and preservation of exhibits within the museum. Fabrication duties include the production, finish, maintenance and evaluation of interactive exhibit and exhibit environments. The Exhibit Maintenance / Fabricator will have the opportunity to be an integral part of an exciting and constantly evolving museum.

Contract Educator

Position summary: The Terry Lee Wells Nevada Discovery Museum (The Discovery) is looking for innovative educators to assist with our school and community programs. The Discovery aims to inspire curiosity, creativity and the joy of lifelong learning. If you are passionate about guiding children in the discovery of the world around them, this is the job for you. Our wide variety of programs focus on immersing children ages 0 through 12 and their families in hands and minds-on activities that generate questions and critical thinking about everyday phenomenon.
