June 17, 2008 NEVADA DISCOVERY MUSEUM GOOD NEWS
The Nevada Discovery Museum has raised $1,054,500 in just the last month. Not only is the total important to the project, but the gifts come from wonderful friends in our community-philanthropists who have been an important part of our region's cultural history. They are, in chronological order:
- Phil & Jennifer Satre - $250,000
- Bruno & Edna Benna - $250,000
- The Dorothy Towne Foundation - $250,000 (this foundation's largest ever)
- The Thomas and Thelma Hart Foundation - $300,000
- In addition to these lead gifts, we've received generous contributions from Mike Alonso, Pam & Chuck Alvey, and Sunwest Bank's America's Promise Committee. It's wonderful when our friends and neighbors show their enthusiasm for the project.
These gifts bring our total raised to $8,000,000. It is exciting news as we continue with donor meetings.
The exhibits committee continues its important work to ensure that the museum is indeed world-class, a place that inspires the curiosity, creativity and understanding for children ages birth to 12. Their work enhancing WaterWorks, da Vinci's Corner and Nevada Stories is nearly complete.
Nearly every day our office receives a call from a parent or a child asking about our hours of operation so that they may come and enjoy the museum. This project will be a tremendous resource for northern Nevada families. Together, we can make it happen. Thank you for your support.
We look forward to sharing more news soon.
