Choose an engaging educational activity for your birthday party!
In addition to time spent in the museum, your guests will enjoy a hands-on activity as part of their birthday party festivities! When making your reservation, please indicate your choice from our current list of available activities.
Salt Water Colors (Recommended for ages 2-6) In this activity, party guests will use some of the unique properties of salt to make a beautiful, colorful watercolor work of art.
Polymer Party (Recommended for ages 2-6) Polymers are everywhere! Polymers are long chain molecules that make up a number of materials from the tires on your car to protein that makes up the hair on your head. At this party you and your guests will create polymer artwork, decorate plastic and watch it shrink. Once it has shrunken children can make bracelets, necklaces and key chains out of it.
Marble Mayhem (Recommended for ages 6-12) Together as a group or in individual teams children will create marble tracks out of everyday material and examine forces of motion. This birthday party is perfect for those children who love to build and invent and it's a super hit for those parents who love to play along with their children.
Reaction, Interaction & Attraction (Recommended for ages 6-12) Explore the fascinating world of chemical properties by growing your own snow and examining foam.
- Grow your own snow: In this experiment children will see how certain chemicals have amazing properties like the ability to absorb water. Children will love the excitement of watching things change before their eyes and then playing with the non-toxic snow-like product.
- Examining foam = In this experiment children take a substance, decorate it with their own artistic flare and then watch it erupt when we expose it to heat!
Tricky Sticky Science (Recommended for ages 6-12) Here at The Discovery we love science and discovering new things. We have selected some mind-boggling hands-on experiments for you and your guests to enjoy at your party. Experiments include the following: - It's a magnet, no wait it's a plastic spoon: use static electricity to pick up pepper from a special mixture.
- Make cereal dance (again a fun lesson about static electricity)
